Girls Associate Head Coach: Nathan Saunders (4th Season)

The 2019 season was Nathan Saunders fifth year as a coach at Chandler High School and his forth with the girl’s program.

In addition to coaching at Chandler, Saunders has coached at all different levels in Arizona, most recently as a member of the Men’s Volleyball Coaching Staff at GCU.

Saunders has coached boys and girls volleyball, ages 11-18 with Aspire Volleyball Club in Tempe, Ariz. As head and assistant coach, he is in charge of cultivating a team and individual development, teaching fundamental skills and strategy along with acting as the communication contact for participants, parents, and coaches.

A Chandler High School alumni (2011), Saunders has served in a variety of coaching capacities including being the Head Coach of the Freshman girls team and the Assistant Coach for the Varsity Boys Team. He works primarily with middle blockers, defensive systems and is in charge of in-game charting of opponents.

In addition to GCU, CHS, and Aspire. Saunders also serves as an apprentice coach, court coach, and evaluator for the USA Volleyball High-Performance program. He evaluates players at High-Performance Tryouts in Denver, Colo. according to position skill and ability and also attends the Boy’s Future Select National Training Program as an apprentice coach.

Before coaching, Saunders played volleyball for Chandler and transferred from Mesa Community College to San Diego City College to play volleyball. An injury brought him back to Arizona where he pursued his degree at GCU.
